Create and upload
Create a knowledge notebook, add text or files, and prepare it for agents.
Create a knowledge notebook when you want agents to search a specific set of business information. A notebook can contain direct text and uploaded files.
Create a notebook
Open Knowledge
Go to Knowledge under Data.
Click New Knowledge Notebook
Click New Knowledge Notebook. Empty workspaces may show Create Knowledge Notebook instead.
Fill the notebook details
In New Knowledge, enter Knowledge Notebook Name and Description. Select a project if the notebook should belong to one project.
Name the notebook, describe its purpose, choose a project when needed, then create it. Create
Click Create. Automate creates the notebook and opens it.
Add data
Inside a notebook, click Add Data.
| Option | Use it when |
|---|---|
| Enter Text | You want to paste a policy, FAQ, notes, or a short reference section |
| Upload File | You have a document file the agent should search |
Open Add Data
In the notebook, click Add Data.
Choose the data type
Select Enter Text or Upload File.
Add the content
Paste the text or choose the file. Use clear titles so future builders know what the item contains.
Add Data lets you paste text directly or upload a file into the notebook.
Wait for processing
Uploaded files may take time before all parts are searchable. If an agent cannot answer from a new file immediately, wait for processing to finish, then test again.
Improve the source material
Knowledge works best when the source is clear:
- Use descriptive headings.
- Split very large mixed documents into smaller topic-specific files.
- Remove obsolete information.
- Avoid duplicate versions of the same policy.
- Do not upload secrets or credentials.
Delete a notebook
Use Delete Knowledge Notebook only when no agent still needs the notebook. Deleting a notebook can make existing agents lose context for questions they previously answered.
