Workspaces
Create and manage workspaces so teams have the right place to build agents, workflows, apps, and knowledge.
Workspaces are the top-level business containers in Automate. A workspace can hold projects, users, agents, workflows, variables, apps, and shared configuration.
Open Admin Panel → Workspaces.
When to create a workspace
Create a workspace when a group needs its own access boundary or operating environment.
Good reasons:
- A business unit needs separate users and projects.
- A customer or client environment must be isolated.
- A staging workspace should be separate from production.
- Different teams need different app, AI, or managed connection access.
Do not create a new workspace just for a single workflow when the same team, users, and governance rules already apply.
Manage workspaces
Open Workspaces
Open Admin Panel, then go to User Management → Workspaces.
Workspaces under User Management is where SuperAdmins review and manage workspace containers. Review the workspace list
Check the workspace name, status, and who owns it before making changes.
Create or edit
Create a new workspace when a team needs a new governed area. Edit existing workspace settings when the business owner, naming, or lifecycle changes.
Workspace design checklist
Before creating a workspace, decide:
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Who owns this workspace? | Someone must be responsible for access and cleanup |
| Which users need access? | Drives membership and role assignment |
| Which apps and AI connections are allowed? | Prevents accidental access to the wrong systems |
| Is it production or testing? | Helps naming and risk level |
| What should happen when the team stops using it? | Avoids forgotten workspaces |
Naming
Use names that make the workspace purpose obvious:
Finance OperationsCustomer Support ProductionClient A Sandbox
Avoid vague names such as Main, Test, or New workspace.
